Youth Hockey Learn To Skate Program

Medford Youth Hockey & Girl's Hockey is a 20 week program,

offered to the children of Medford and surrounding communities from ages 4-12 years old.

 All new players are evaluated on-ice at the start of the program by our instructors and will be assigned into their appropriate skill level program.

Cost is $300.


 Learn to Skate Clinic (Beginners) - Players are taught the basics of ice skating, establishing balance on skates, skating and gliding on skates and being able to get up off the ice on their own to a standing position. In addition, the fundamental first steps of skating and stopping on ice skates. 

TWO (2) WEEKLY SESSIONS THURSDAYS AT 6:00 PM AND SATURDAYS AT 12:00 PM (Noon)

 Development Clinic (Advanced) - Players are taught to skate at an increased speed level, always working on snow plow and two skate hockey stops, pivoting while skating, turning in different directions, skating backwards later during the season, the introduction of hockey sticks. Boys and Girls are taught stops, turns, backwards, circles and many speed drills with hockey sticks and with pucks. Puck handling and shooting and cross ice scrimmaging teaches the early stages of the game of hockey in preparation to be called up to the Learn to Play In-House Team. Tuition is 

TWO (2) WEEKLY SESSIONS THURSDAYS AT 6:00 PM AND SATURDAYS AT 12:00 PM (Noon)


Learn to Play Teams (Experienced)- After being evaluated your player will be placed on a team in our In House program.

This program includes 4 teams. Each team begins with 11-players and grows to 14-players during the season. 

With the Bova Cup Championship Finals! ***if you make this team your tuition will increase from $300 to $500***

  FRIDAYS NIGHT PRACTICE, SATURDAYS AFTERNOON SKILLS, SUNDAY X-ICE GAMES

Required Equipment: Hockey helmet with full face mask, hockey skates, elbow pads, knee pads, athletic cups/supporter, winter or hockey gloves, hockey pants or sweatpants. NOTE: USA Hockey requires a helmet with full face mask.
