IN-HOUSE YOUTH HOCKEY LEARN TO ICE SKATE (Beginners) & DEVELOPMENT CLINIC PROGRAMS:  

     1. Welcome to the exciting 2022-23 Medford Youth Hockey & Girl's Hockey "In-House" Fall-Winter Programs offered to the children of Medford and surrounding communities for boys and girls ages 4-12 years old. 
     2. All new players will be evaluated by our instructors so that all players can be assigned to their appropriate ability groups.
     3. After On-Ice Evaluations, all Learn to Skate (Beginners) and Development Clinic evaluated players will skate twice a week, Thursdays at 6:PM and Saturdays. at 12:Noon, all at the LoConte Rink, Medford.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: All players are required to bring with them a HOCKEY HELMET with FULL FACE MASK; HOCKEY SKATES; ELBOW PADS; KNEE PADS; ATHLETIC CUP/SUPPORTER; WINTER or HOCKEY GLOVES; HOCKEY PANTS or SWEATPANTS.

STEP #1 - Register your player or players with USA Hockey. (Insurance and Rostering) Go to: www.usahockey.com and register your player or players. You will receive a USA Hockey Players Identification Number.
STEP #2 - Register your player or players with Medford Youth Hockey (Rostering and Online Tuition Payment). Go to: www.medfordrechockey.com and register your player or players.

USA HOCKEY STATEMENT: Youth Hockey is a wonderful sport for kids and their families. Kids who play youth hockey are able to make new friends and stay active throughout the winter months, while playing the world's fastest, most exciting team sport.
MEDFORD YOUTH HOCKEY STATEMENT: The youth hockey community is very friendly and welcoming, and Medford Youth Hockey and Girl's Hockey would love to have you join our hockey program.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE NOTES:  For Boys & Girls Ages 4-12
1. Learn to Skate (Beginner) Players and Development Clinic Players skate (2) sessions weekly (Thursdays at 6:00 PM & Saturdays at 12:00 Noon) at the LoConte Rink, Medford.

Note: USA HOCKEY requires each player wear a hockey helmet with a full face mask. 

Learn to Skate (Beginners) Clinic:
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE - Boys and girls are taught the basics of ice skating, establishing balance on skates, skating and gliding on skates and being able to get up off the ice on their own to a standing position. In addition, the fundamental first steps of skating and stopping on ice skates.

Development-Clinic: (Advanced Clinic)
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE - Boys and girls are taught to skate at an increased speed level, always working on snow plow and two skate hockey stops, pivoting while skating, turning in different directions, skating backwards later during the season, the introduction of hockey sticks.
        Boys and Girls are taught stops, turns, backwards, circles and many speed drills with hockey sticks and with pucks. Puck handling, puck shooting and  cross ice scrimmaging teaches the early stages of the game of hockey in preparation to be called up to the In-House Advance Level - Learn to Play Program. The Learn to Play Program consists of (4) teams. Each team begins with 11-players and grows to 14-players during the season. The Mite-Squirt age players the play both full ice and cross ice during the season.
