Medford Youth Hockey and Medford Girl's Hockey "Player Signup Information Page"

Medford Youth Hockey and Medford Girl's Hockey offer youth hockey programs for boys and girls 4-18 years old.       Updated 4/30/20

1. TRAVEL TEAM - FALL~WINTER TEAMS: Fall~Winter Travel Teams are formed from "Spring Travel Team Tryouts/Evaluations" held in March before the skating rinks closes for the summer in preparation for the September season start. Travel Teams formed are Mite-A and Mite-B for players 6-8 years old, Squirt-A, Squirt-B and Squirt-C for players 9&10 years old, PeeWee-A, PeeWee-B and PeeWee-C for players 11&12 years old, Bantam-A and Bantam-B for players 13&14 years old, Midget-A and Midget-B for players 15-18 years old, Girl's 10 & Under, Girl's 12 & Under, Girl's 14 & Under and Girl's 19 & Under. Players moving into Medford during the season or players who have missed tryouts can signup at the LoConte Rink off Route #16 within the Hormel Stadium Complex Saturdays from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. The Travel Team season begins in September and ends in April. The number of teams are based on the number of players who register at each age level.

2. TRAVEL TEAM - WINTER BANTAMS & MIDGETS:
 Travel Team Winter Midgets and Winter Girl's U19A play a half season schedule starting in September and ending in late November after Thanksgiving and before area high school tryouts. 2nd Half Winter Teams are formed if there is enough players interested who are not playing high school hockey.

3. HOUSE LEAGUE - (In-House - Intramural) PROGRAM: 
 House League (In-House Program) for boys and girls ages 4-12 (Mites to PeeWees) can signup from October through to December and the overall program runs from October to March. The House League Program offers two USA Hockey sanctioned ADM (American Development Model) programs:
#1 - Learn to Skate for beginners, new players and Development Clinic for players who can skate, and require fundamental hockey skills.
#2 - Learn to Play Team Hockey for players who can skate and have fundamental hockey skills. These teams are formed with minimal number of players to allow players from the Development Clinic an opportunity to move up to a team during the season.

5. HOME RINK:
 Built in 1970 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Managed by the City of Medford LoConte Rink, the LoConte Rink is located at 97 Locust St. within the Hormel Stadium Complex off Route #16 and across from the Meadow Glen Shopping Center (Wegmans, Koh's, Dicks Sporting Goods, Etc.) in Medford, Massachusetts.
